We Already Know You Want The VW Passat Variant R-Line Edition

Ah the Geneva Motor Show, otherwise known to American automotive enthusiasts as the annual Show of Amazing Things You Can’t Have.

This year’s edition of the year Geneva Motor Show, which kicks off next week, is set to continue its tormenting ways, playing host to the debut of the achingly cool new VW Passat Variant R-Line.

The Passat Variant’s new R-Line trim adds black exterior trim and R-badging, a black roof, dark LED tail lights and high-gloss black ‘Pretoria’ 19-inch alloy wheels to the already handsome wagon.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a very German interior with black Nappa leather R-Line sports seats , brushed stainless steel pedals, R-Line branded side sills and new ambient lighting. VW’s Digital Cockpit driver’s display and 9.2-inch navigation system (now with a dedicated ‘R-Line’ start screen) also infoe standard.

There’s one more interesting feature – mainly for German buyers. A new system called Travel Assist allows the car to control the steering, braking and accelerating inputs on the highway at speeds of up to 210 km/h. As VW says, all the driver needs to do is keep their hands on the steering wheel and this sporty wagon will infofortably cruise along at 200+ km/h. How’s that for “Autobahn tuned”?

The VW Passat Variant R-Line will be limited to just 2,000 units. It will go on sale in Europe later this year. Pricing has yet to be announced.
